HBO’s action-comedy series “Barry” returns with its third season on April 24th and is currently in the midst of scripting its fourth season.
The show’s star/creator Bill Hader has now revealed in an interview he directed five of the eight episodes of the third season and is currently planning to direct all eight episodes of the fourth. [Source: THR]
Bridgerton
“Line of Duty” actress India Amarteifio will play the younger version of Golda Rosheuvel’s Queen Charlotte in a “Bridgerton” eight-episode prequel spin-off series for Netflix. Rosheuvel will reprise her role along with Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton).
Shonda Rhimes is writing the show which will follow Charlotte’s marriage to King George sparking both a great love story and a societal shift. Michelle Fairley, Corey Mylchreest, Arsema Thomas, Sam Clemmett, Richard Cunningham, Tunji Kasim, Rob Maloney, Cyril Nri and Hugh Sachs also star. [Source: THR]
City on Fire
The New York-set Apple TV+ drama series “City on Fire” from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, is filling out its cast. The drama begins with an female NYU student shot to death in Central Park in 2003 – the death tying into a series of mysterious citywide fires and a wealthy uptown real estate family.
Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, Kathleen Munroe and John Cameron Mitchell will join the previously cast Chase Sui Wonders and Wyatt Oleff. [Source: THR]
Ten Percent
“Ten Percent,” the British remake of French comedy “Call My Agent,” is heading to Amazon Prime Video with all eight episodes to launch on the service on April 28th around key global markets. In the U.S., it hits the next day via Sundance Now.
The series follows a ragtag group of talent agents at a fictional British agency. Jack Davenport and Jim Broadbent lead the cast whilst a number of high profile guest stars are involved including Helena Bonham Carter, David Oyelowo, Kelly Macdonald and Himesh Patel.
Doctor Who
The BBC has set an Easter Sunday (April 17th) debut for the new “Doctor Who” special “Legend of the Sea Devils” – the second of Jodie Whittaker’s three specials that mark her final outting in the role.
The 19th century-set tale sees legendary pirate queen Madam Ching searching for a treasure along with the return of the aquatic adversaries after four decades.
