The California Film Commission has announced the latest round of tax credits for film productions.
Netflix pulled in the lion’s share with $60.3 million compared to Disney ($27.2 million), Warner Bros. ($16.2 million) and Amazon ($16 million).
Specifically, Netflix has four major films scoring credits – the Jennifer Lopez-led sci-fi thriller “Atlas” landed the biggest single project one of $20.5 million.
The fourth”Beverly Hills Cop” isn’t far behind with $16.1 million along with the Jerry Seinfeld-led pop tart genesis tale “Unfrosted” ($14.2M) and the Jennifer Lopez-led body-switch comedy “Family Leave” ($9.4M).
Outside of Netflix, one of the most high-profile projects is the prequel film “Training Day: Day of the Riot” which Warners snagged a $9.1 million credit for. That studio also landed $7.1 million for its Stephen King adaptation “The Long Walk”.
The ABC Signature film “The Three Joaquins” scored $10.2 million whilst untitled projects at Amazon and Disney landed big credits of $16 million and $9.3 million respectively.
Numerous indie films also scored paydays with the most high-profile being Paramount’s “80 for Brady” which nabbed $2.5 million.
