Former “Sons of Anarchy” alum Ron Perlman has slammed critics of Adam McKay’s Netflix darkly satirical climate change-themed disaster comedy “Don’t Look Up”.
Perlman has a key supporting role in the film as Colonel Benedict Drask, a war veteran tasked with flying to space to destroy a comet. Speaking with The Independent, the actor let loose on the critical backlash to the film which seems to have divided audiences as well:
“F–k you and your self-importance and this self-perpetuating need to say everything bad about something just so that you can get some attention for something that you had no idea about creating. It’s corrupt. And it’s sick. And it’s twisted. [It’s] part of how the internet has almost killed journalism. And now journalism is trying to do everything they can to co-opt and maintain their importance.”
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothee Chalamet, Joe Morgan and Mark Rylance co-star in the film which released at Christmas and has become one of Netflix’s biggest original films to date.
Despite the polarised reviews, the film has had a strong presence on the awards circuit.
