Andre Nemec, showrunner of the new live-action “Cowboy Bebop” sci-fi series hitting Netflix this week, tells THR that plans for a second season are all ready to go should Netflix give the go ahead.
Speaking at the Goya Studios premiere of this ten-episode live-action take on the classic anime series, which follows a ragtag group of space-traveling bounty hunters in 2071, Nemec says he’s raring to go on more:
“If Ted Sarandos comes by, you tell him I got big plans for season two. We definitely know where we want to go, and I’m excited that we get to tell those stories. Fingers crossed that we get more ‘Cowboy Bebop.'”
The question is will he? The original series scored unanimous acclaim and is considered a bonafide classic of not just the anime genre but TV in general.
Reviews for the live-action version however are now out and are snagging some of the weakest reviews this year for a major TV series – the show scoring just a 39/100 on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
The new “Cowboy Bebop” hits Netflix on November 19th, while the original anime is currently available on the service.
