Rogue Squadron Film Delays Shoot

While there have been several features being touted as in development in the wake of the release of ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ only one “Star Wars” movie actually seemed to be headed towards production – Patty Jenkins’ “Rogue Squadron” movie.

Given a December 22nd 2023 release date, the project was aiming to go into pre-production later this year ahead of a filming start date in 2022. Jenkins and writer Matthew Robinson have already spent over a year developing the film.

Today though, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the producers have realised Jenkins’ schedule and other commitments will not allow for the window needed to make the movie in 2022.

So, “Squadron” has been taken off the production schedule for now with the hope being once she fulfils her previous commitments she will be able to return to the project.

What commitments are the problem is not clear. Jenkins has a third “Wonder Woman” at Warners and a “Cleopatra” biopic at Paramount in the works.

The film’s release date hasn’t changed as yet, but that seems a strong possibility once they have a better idea of when they can actually begin filming.
