The only consistent thing about the box-office this year has been that Marvel can’t lose.
Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” opened to $75 million domestically, Sony & Marvel’s “Venom” opened to $90 million, and now projections have this weekend’s “Eternals” also opening to $75 million.
Intriguingly the film is on track to match “Shang-Chi” despite reviews for “Eternals” being considerably poorer with a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes compared to Shang-Chi’s 92% and even the “Venom” sequel’s 60%.
“Eternals” is slated to open with previews on Thursday, November 4th and in 4,000 theaters screens across North America. Unlike with “Shang-Chi” and “Venom” though this will be pretty much a day-and-date global release this weekend as well.
