20th Century Studios has set Keira Knightley to star in the Matt Ruskin-directed drama “Boston Strangler” for Scott Free and LuckyChap Entertainment.
Knightley plays Loretta McLaughlin, the first reporter to connect several murders and break the story of the Boston Strangler.
She and fellow reporter Jean Cole challenged the sexism of the early 1960s to report on the city’s notorious serial killer and worked to keep women informed.
They pursued the story at great personal risk and discovered corruption that cast doubt on the strangler’s identity.
Filming begins in December in Boston with Ridley Scott, Kevin Walsh, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara producing.
