Movie ticket pre-sales in the UK for “No Time to Die,” Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as James Bond, are giving the beleaguered film industry and reason to get excited.
Since going on sale on September 13th, cinema owners have reported received a nearly unprecedented level of demand and easily the highest interest seen since pre-pandemic levels – far above the likes of “Tenet”.
In fact, the ‘nearest equivalent’ pre-sales numbers are said to be that of Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” with one source telling THR:
“Endgame was the last one that probably had the same palpable sense of ‘this absolutely cannot be missed’ and there was a sense of urgency about seeing it as soon as possible.”
“Avengers: Endgame” had a UK opening weekend haul of $56.1 million ahead of an eventual $115 million gross in that country. “No Time to Die” is expected to open across more than 700 screens in the UK from September 30th.
In related news, Daniel Craig has been made an honorary Commander in the Royal Navy. Commander Craig said in a statement: “I am truly privileged and honoured to be appointed the rank of Honorary Commander in the senior service.”
