Tom Hanks’ new sci-fi feature “Finch” (previously known as “BIOS”) has set a Friday, November 5th debut date on the Apple TV+ service.
The story is set after a cataclysmic solar event has left the world a wasteland. Hanks stars as Finch, a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors. Living in an underground bunker for a decade, he has built a world of his own that he shares with his dog, Goodyear. He creates a robot (Caleb Landry Jones) to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can.
As the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his creation the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive and to care for his dog after he’s gone. Miguel Sapochnik (“Game of Thrones”) directs from a script by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell.
That’s not the only date shift today as IFC Films has set a December 3rd theatrical and VOD release date for Paul Verhoeven’s steamy Cannes hit “Benedetta.” That follows a 17th-century nun in Italy who suffers from disturbing religious and erotic visions.
Finally, Disney+ has announced a November 12th release date for 20th Century Studios’ “Home Sweet Home Alone” – the reboot of the “Home Alone” franchise.
“Jojo Rabbit” breakout Archie Yates leads the cast of this new “adventure comedy” take on the holiday classic which also stars Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell.
