Following in the footsteps of other Disney+ Premier Access titles like “Mulan,” “Cruella” and “Raya and the Last Dragon” which followed this strategy, Marvel Studios has announced that “Black Widow” is racing through its post-theatrical format releases fast.
Having opened theatrically on July 9th, the movie will now launch as a PVOD rental title on all major digital platforms on August 10th, and then score a disc release (4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD) on September 14th.
All that comes ahead of the film’s release on the Disney+ service as a part of a regular subscription sometime in October. It also has been confirmed nine deleted scenes will be included in the film’s home release.
The film has grossed $314 million after three weeks in theaters worldwide, making it the second-lowest worldwide box office for Marvel after “The Incredible Hulk”.
It also pales compared to the theatrical only “F9” which stands at $621 million worldwide after several more weeks. However that “F9” tally is boosted by over $200 million from China where “Black Widow” hasn’t opened yet.
