Kate Herron, who directed all six episodes of the first season of Marvel Studios’ “Loki” on Disney+ to great acclaim, will not return for the second season.
Speaking with Deadline this morning, she confirmed she would not be returning and that a second season wasn’t really a guarantee anyway until the announcement in the final episode of the current run:
“I’m not returning. I always planned to be just on for this and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the – that’s something that just came out and I’m so excited.
I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”
She then confirmed that other stuff his her own work and not another MCU project, but she would have no problems returning to this universe: “I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”
Meanwhile series star Tom Hiddleston has spoken with Marvel’s official site and confirmed the new season is still in the early stages but moving forward quick: “we [Loki’s creative team] are already in discussions. Deep, deep, deep discussions. I can’t wait to get started.”
