J.J. Abrams and Angela Robinson are teaming for the DC Comics-inspired live-action TV series “Madame X” for HBO Max.

Madame X (aka Madame Xanadu) is part of the Justice League Dark universe – a sorceress who has helped the Suicide Squad and serves as Spectre’s spiritual adviser. More recently she’s been revealed to be the mother of villain Doctor Destiny.

The project is in the early development stages with Robinson (“Professor Marston & the Wonder Women”) to write and executive produce.

Abrams and wife/producing partner Katie McGrath personally recruited Robinson for the Warner Bros. TV-produced series which falls under Bad Robot’s WarnerMedia deal.

Abrams’ Bad Robot is developing multiple series for HBO Max including a planned “Justice League Dark” franchise with multiple series as part of a larger connected world with “Madame X” likely to be a part of that alongside the new “Constantine” series on the way.

Robinson will remain involved with a reboot of “Flashdance” she is developing for Paramount+.
