“The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus, his bigbaldhead production company and AMC Studios are planning a TV series adaptation of Russ Meyer’s iconic 1965 cult classic “Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill”.

Satana, Lori Williams, Susan Bernard, Paul Trina, Haji and Stuart Lancaster starred in the original about a trio of go-go dancers who embark on a spree of kidnapping and murder in the California desert. It was known at the time for its violence, provocative gender roles, and highly quotable lines.

Though a critical and box-office flop at release, it has since been reconsidered as Meyer’s best work and his most famous alongside “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls”. It has also become widely regarded as an important and influential film for its strong female characters and the overturning of cultural norms.

The new project has the full backing of the Meyer estate and aims to reimagine the story for the modern world. Reedus will serve as executive producer alongside JoAnne Colonna, Amanda Verdon and Janice Cowart.
