Soderbergh To Helm Kravitz In “KIMI”

Following making an overall deal with HBO Max, filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has been set to direct the New Line Max Original feature “KIMI” starring Zoe Kravitz (“The Batman,” “Big Little Lies”).

The story follows an agoraphobic tech worker who discovers recorded evidence of a violent crime during an ordinary data stream review and tries reporting it up the chain of command at her company.

Meeting with resistance and bureaucracy, she realizes that in order to get involved, she will have to do the thing she fears the most – leave her apartment.

Frequent blockbuster writer David Koepp (“Jurassic Park,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Panic Room”) penned the script and will produce along with Michael Polaire. The film will premiere exclusively on HBO Max.

Soderbergh also recently sat down with Rolling Stone where he discussed his original plans for his cancelled period drama “The Knick” which wrapped up after two seasons instead of a planned six.

He says the third and fourth season “were going to skip forward fifty years. It was going to be right after World War II, brand-new characters, brand-new cast.” Then the fifth and sixth seasons were “going to be set five minutes into the future, with a mix of actors from the previous four seasons. I was really excited to do all of that.”
