Classic 1980s video game “Frogger” is being reimagined as a contemporary competition series for the Peacock streaming service.
The hour-long “Frogger’ show will feature twelve “wild and whimsical” obstacle courses dubbed ‘crossings’ that are individually physically demanding challenges based on both the original video game and other nostalgic favorite games.
Challenges range from dodging traffic to leaping over snapping alligators to hopping over hungry hippos. Contestants will also have their strategy and problem-solving smarts tested with these challenges to win a “massive cash prize”.
Chris Culvenor and Paul Franklin will executive produce for Eureka Productions, the company behind the series and which has had big success in the space recently with ABC’s mini-golf competition series “Holey Moley”.
The “Frogger” project has already been given a thirteen-episode order and applications to be a contestant are available now at froggercasting.com.
