The first photos have been released from the Nicolas Cage-led post-apocalyptic thriller “Prisoners of the Ghostland” which sees him teaming with subversive Japanese director Sion Sono (“Suicide Club,” “The Forest of Love”).
Cage plays a notorious criminal named Hero who is sent to rescue an abducted woman who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe.
Together they must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule the Ghostland, an East-meets-West vortex of beauty and violence.
Sofia Boutella, Bill Moseley, Ed Skrein, Young Dais, and Tak Sakaguchi co-star in the film with Cage say “maybe the wildest movie I’ve ever made, and that’s saying something. It’s out there.”
It joins several fascinating Cage-related projects on the way include the hyper-meta comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” the Cage vs. psychotic animatronic animals film “Willy’s Wonderland,” the kidnapped truffle-hunting pig thriller “Pig,” and a script about the whole ‘Tiger King’ saga with Cage playing Joe Exotic.
“Prisoners of the Ghostland” will have its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 31st.
