A “True Blood” Revival Is In The Works

HBO is reportedly in the early stages of developing a new version of its series “True Blood” with “Riverdale” and “Sabrina” creator/showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa spearheading the new version.

Original series creator Alan Ball is also on board as executive producer for this return to Bon Temps which ran for seven seasons from 2008-2015.

The show was set in a world where the development of a synthetic blood allowed vampires to announce their presence to the world, with a host of them residing in the Louisiana town. Charlaine Harris penned the series of novels upon which the show was based.

The series was a hit for HBO, scoring nearly five million same-day viewers per episode in its third and fourth seasons. It also strongly helped the careers of its stars like Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Carrie Preston and Joe Manganiello.

Aguirre-Sacasa is set to write the pilot for the new version with Jami O’Brien (“NOS4A2”).
