Mariah Carey May Helm Her Own Biopic

Mariah Carey is in early talks with a “special friend” to adapt her warts-and-all memoir “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” into a limited series or feature film which the songstress herself may direct.

The book follows her course from a low-income Long Island upbringing to becoming the best-selling female artist of all time – discussing childhood traumas and a troubled marriage along the way.

During a recent interview about her Apple TV+ Christmas special that was a big hit last week for the service, she was asked why she didn’t opt to direct the Apple TV+ holiday special herself when she teased her potential helming of the memoir adaptation:

“Me, and a secret friend of mine, are talking about that and what it would look like. People have also been reaching out to me about it … people I haven’t heard from in years saying this has to be a series or a movie or whatever it’s going to be. These things take a long time, so it’s going to be what it is, but I believe in it. I’m really looking forward to it even just as a viewer, seeing these stories come to life.”

Her fellow pop icon Madonna is currently readying her own biopic and will direct from a script by Diablo Cody for Universal.
