“Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher has revealed that two key studio projects he’s attached to are both on indefinite hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
One is “Sherlock Holmes 3,” a follow-up to the two Guy Ritchie-directed films led by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The other is the reboot of “The Saint” franchise, a property that has had several TV and film incarnations with the likes of Roger Moore and Val Kilmer playing the role of Simon Templar.
Appearing on the Celebrity Catch Up podcast recently, Fletcher says delays on both projects are likely at this point as uncertainty surrounding the movie business has created these issues:
“Sherlock’s hit its own issues on and off. That’s sort of sitting on the back burner at the moment until it becomes clear where the world is at and what’s going to happen.
They [Saint & Sherlock] are both up against the same dilemma, the same issue that we all [have]: How do you get large groups of people together to create something and then shift them all around the world? And what do you do with actors that are in a love scene? It’s complicated.”
At present, “Sherlock Holmes 3” is set to hit cinemas on December 22nd 2021 though that’s certain to change.
