Tom Holkenborg, better known by his professional name Junkie XL, has offered up some more information about his work on the score for “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”.
The recut of the 2017 DC Comics feature, which aims to restore Snyder’s original vision for the project, will also boast new takes on Wonder Woman’s and Superman’s themes by the famed composer who has worked on scores ranging from “Mad Max: Fury Road” to “Sonic the Hedgehog” and, of course, Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
Holkenborg says the work for this new cut is entirely new and very different from the Danny Elfman score the theatrical cut ended up with once Joss Whedon took over the project. He tells Forbes he also has had time to revisit some of the work he already did and make it better:
“Besides the Man of Steel theme for Superman and the theme for Wonder Woman, which I have given a new spin, all the other themes for this movie are brand new. Some of them I did the groundwork on four years ago, but as you grow as a composer, you look at what you did and maybe have a better way of doing it now or a better idea. It was inspiring. I would get an idea in my downtime and think, ‘Oh, let’s rework this thing. Let’s do that.’ Because I knew for a while that this was coming, I had the time and space to shape it into its best possible form.”
To commemorate Batman Day the other day, Zack Snyder and HBO Max also shared new photos of Ben Affleck in character in scenes from the upcoming cut which will launch on the streaming service in 2021.
Batman is all of us… he is our rage at injustice… he stands alone, as we all wish we could, in the face of a corrupt system which wishes to oppress and exploit… he is that broken child, searching the dark alleys of the human soul to bring balance to the world. #BatmanDay pic.twitter.com/X20jolqqtZ
