A biopic about influential pop icon Madonna has been setup at Universal Pictures with Madonna herself set to both direct and co-write with Oscar winner Diablo Cody.
The multi-award-winning singer, writer, producer, filmmaker, activist, and humanitarian is the best-selling female music artist in history having sold 335 million records worldwide. She also remains the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time.
Madonna says in statement: “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”
Amy Pascal (“Little Women,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”), who worked with Madonna on “A League of their Own,” will produce.
