The first ever artificial intelligence-assisted casting programme has suggested that Superman and “The Witcher” star Henry Cavill is the best man to be the next James Bond.
The AI-assisted programme compared different British actor’s attributes against Bond’s attributes in order to determine Daniel Craig’s best successor with Cavill (92.3% match) in front followed by “The Hobbit” star Richard Armitage (92%) and the one and only Idris Elba (90.9%).
When the program was expanded outside the UK however, even Cavill was beaten by “The Boys” and “Star Trek” actor Karl Urban who came out in front with a 96.7% match. Chris Evans (93.9%) and Will Smith (92.2%) also scored high.
Asked for actresses in the role, the program emphatically suggested “The Mandalorian” star Gina Carano (97.3%) followed by former “Battlestar Galactica” alum Katee Sackhoff (94.4%) and Angelina Jolie (94.2%).
Cavill was famously on the shortlist for “Casino Royale” back in the mid 2000s, the actor at the time deemed too young for the role. Craig ended up beating out Cavill and Australian actor Sam Worthington for the part.
At the time numerous actors were considered for the role with Urban also rumored at that time. Elba and Armitage have also been regularly floated as possibilities on polls and tabloids during Craig’s run along with actors like Marvel studios regular Tom Hiddleston and “Poldark” and “The Hobbit” actor Aidan Turner.
Cavill is currently shooting the second season of “The Witcher” for Netflix. Craig’s final outing as Bond arrives in November with the release of “No Time to Die”.
