Movies wise, arguably the most impacted were those films released in cinemas in March – the films getting only theatrical runs of a few days or week or two before being pulled after cinemas shut down.
One of the most visibly impacted was the Vin Diesel-led “Bloodshot” which was released on March 13th and had just a four-day theatrical run. That film pulled in a little more than $37 million at the global box office before getting pulled from cinemas and soon went to premium VOD where it topped the charts for a few days.
An adaptation of a Valiant Comics title of the same name, Diesel plays U.S. marine Ray Garrison who is horrifically injured in an incident that kills his wife. After undergoing an experimental medical procedure involving nanite technology, Garrison finds he has gained several superhuman abilities, including quicker reflexes and extremely rapid healing.
Now, AMC has announced that the film will be back on the big screen starting August 20th for a second run to help mark the re-opening of select AMC theater locations. The film earned mixed reviews and was supposed to kickstart a Valiant Comics-inspired cinematic universe – that obviously didn’t happen. How it will fare this time? We’ll see.
