Jensen Ackles Joins “The Boys” S3

With “Supernatural” about to shoot its final few episodes, the show’s two main stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are about to move onto other things after fifteen years together on screen.

Padalecki has already lined up the “Walker, Texas Ranger” reboot as his next gig, now Ackles has revealed he’s set to join Amazon’s “The Boys” for its third season.

Ackles did a post on Instagram where he amusing reveals he’ll portray Soldier Boy in the series. Eric Kripke, who created “Supernatural” and ran it for its first five seasons, is showrunner on “The Boys” and says in a statement:

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream – to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys.'”

The character in the comics is a parody of Captain America and the ‘original’ superhero who fought in World War II and became the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades.

According to Collider, filming on the third season is expected to kick off in January with the first four scripts currently done and all expected to be ready by the time filming begins.

While Kripke wants Jeffrey Dean Morgan to play a role, COVID protocols and his “Walking Dead” commitments might prevent it. The series will engage in block shooting, filming two episodes at the same time and with fifteen days scheduled per episode (so effectively four one-month shoots). In comparison, the second season had twelve days per episode to shoot.
