Regal Theatres, the U.S. cinema chain that has taken a hardline stance against the recent AMC-Universal deal and its exclusivity window shortening, has released a strangely upbeat if not outright perky video about the chain’s re-opening in select locations later this month.
The video explains that their cinemas will now include a wide range of new health and safety measures based on CDC guidelines along with feedback received from employees and moviegoers to determine what they deem most important for their return.
Safety procedures include daily health screenings, mandatory masks and frequent hand washing for employees. For guests, masks will be mandatory in “the lobby, hallways and restrooms” of theaters and in auditoriums aside from eating and drinking. They will also be encouraged to proceed to and depart their auditorium as soon as possible.
Where required by state or county mandate, auditorium capacities will be reduced to 50% with plans to commence business from August 21st. The re-opening comes as large swaths of the United States have yet to contain the coronavirus.
