“Planet Earth: A Celebration” Goes Multi-Network

BBC America has set an August 31st premiere date and released a first trailer for “Planet Earth: A Celebration,” a major multi-network event to screen on August 31st around the world and based on the iconic and Emmy-winning franchise from the BBC’s Natural History unit.

The special highlights eight of the most extraordinary sequences from both “Planet Earth II” and “Blue Planet II” along with offering new narration from naturist Godfather Sir David Attenborough and a rearrangement of original scores from award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and the Bleeding Fingers team

The string section of the score will be performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, accompanied by Brit and Mercury Award-winning UK rapper, Dave who performs on the grand piano – the new music recorded at Air Studios, London.

The special will premiere across BBC America, AMC, IFC and SundanceTV at 8pm US-ET and will debut the same day in the U.S., U.K. and China. During the broadcast and online, AMC Networks will share with viewers how they can support the efforts of The National Wildlife Federation and the non-profit MusiCares which offers a safety net for the music community in times of need.
