One Night in Miami
Amazon Studios has acquired Regina King’s feature directorial debut “One Night in Miami,” an adaptation of Kemp Powers’ 2013 stage play, with plans to release it as an awards contender.

Set in 1964, the story follows a young Cassius Clay (Eli Goree) before he became Muhammad Ali as he emerges from the Miami Beach Convention Center the new World Heavyweight Boxing Champion – defeating Sonny Liston and shocking the sports world. [Source: THR]

How To Survive Inglewood
Peacock is developing “How To Survive Inglewood,” a teen comedy drama film about Black teenagers trying to get through the absurd, treacherous, and embarrassing obstacles that come with adolescence whilst growing up in Los Angeles. The project hails from “Real Husbands of Hollywood” creator Chris Spencer and “Grown-ish” writer Chad Sanders who will pen and executive produce. [Source: Deadline]

Out of Exile
Ryan Merriman, Peter Greene, Hayley McFarland, Kyle Jacob Henry, Adam Hampton and Karrie Cox are set to star in filmmaker Kyle Kauwika Harris’ crime thriller “Out of Exile” at Through Films. Filming begins in Oklahoma in October.

The story follows a recently paroled thief, Gabriel Russell (Merriman), who tries to balance his life and mend a troubled family as an FBI agent hunts him down, along with his crew after a botched armored car robbery. McFarland will play his estranged daughter and Greene is a crime boss. [Source: THR]

Battletoads
Rare and Microsoft have released a new trailer for “Battletoads,” a remake of the classic early 1990s NES game for Xbox One and PC which arrives August 20th. Zitz, Pimple and Rash are back in action for side-scrolling brawls and fast-paced turbo bike chases along with a three-player co-operative multiplayer.
