“Riverdale” lead K.J. Apa and actress Sofia Carson (“Feel the Beat”) have scored the lead roles in the Michael Bay-produced pandemic thriller “Songbird” at Invisible Narratives and Catchlight Studios.
The pair join acting alums Demi Moore, Bradley Whitford, Craig Robinson, Jenna Ortega, Paul Walter Hauser and Peter Stormare in the film which will be one of the first films to go into production in Los Angeles as the real pandemic lockdown is slowly being lifted.
The story is set two years in the future during a pandemic lockdown and follows the love story between motorbike courier Nico (Apa), who has a rare immunity to the disease, and Sara (Carson), a young artist. Nico must overcome “martial law, murderous vigilantes and a powerful, well connected family, helmed by a matriarch who will stop at nothing to protect her family and maintain her way of life.”
Adam Mason (Into the Dark) will direct from a script by Simon Boyes while Bay is producing alongside Adam Goodman and Eben Davidson.
