“Frozen 3,” “Matrix 4,” “Star Trek 4” Talk

“Frozen” was released in 2013 and after billion dollar success at the box-office, and much more than that in merchandising, it was no surprise that a “Frozen” sequel was made and eventually arrived last year. Said sequel also made a fortune and left things open for a third chapter.

As part of the “Frozen 2: Into the Unknown” documentary series airing currently on Disney+, the second film’s director Marc Smith confirmed that Disney has yet to start developing a third film. He says (via Collider): “We have not had that discussion. I think Frozen 2 is still too close to everyone’s minds and ideas to, to think about what happens beyond, beyond that.”

That’s not the only brief sequel news today. Photos are up at TMZ showing Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Neil Patrick Harris back at work on the fourth “The Matrix” feature in Berlin. Harris’ role in the new film is currently unknown, but production appears to have resumed after stalling for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Also recently, actor Zachary Quinto told ComicBook.com that he and his fellow crew members would be thrilled to once again return for another “Star Trek” film but admits they aren’t really involved anymore:

“It’s already thriving in the television format with Discovery and Picard and the spinoffs. I can’t even keep track of how many new Star Trek stories are being told since our last film in 2016. All I know is that we, all of us, had an incredible experience making those films. If there is an appetite for more of those stories with us in them, I’m sure that we would all be thrilled to come back and do one more or whatever, but I’m not really attached to it anymore.

I stepped away from any expectation or any real certainty that it’s ever going to happen again. I think that’s the only real way to move through the world, right? If it happens, that’d be great, but I’m not going to sit around waiting for it to happen.”

No active development is reportedly underway on another “Star Trek” film as yet, though numerous “Star Trek” TV shows are currently in production with more in development.
