Edgar Wright To Direct “The Chain”

Beloved “Baby Driver” and “Hot Fuzz” helmer Edgar Wright has signed on to direct the kidnapping thriller “The Chain” at Universal Pictures.

An adaptation of Adrian McKinty‘s bestselling book, the project was headed for Paramount but is now at Universal who have enlisted “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and “X-Men: First Class” scribe Jane Goldman to adapt the script.

The story follows Rachel, a woman whose eleven-year-old daughter has been kidnapped. She is told that the only way to get the girl back is to kidnap another child who will only be released if their parents kidnap another child and so on and so on.

Wright, Nira Park, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce. Wright is coming off of the psychological thriller “Last Night in Soho” which will arrive early next year.
