Lark Productions has acquired the exclusive television rights to the Image Comics sci-fi graphic novel series “Descender” and its sequel “Ascender” which hails from Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen.
“Descender” ran from 2015-2018 across 32 issues and follows Tim-21, a companion robot who is thrust into a hostile cosmos when he discovers that he’s the missing link between a fleet of life-annihilating constructs and modern robotics.
“Ascender” is currently ongoing after having launched in 2019 and is set a decade later – imagining a magical world sans machines and follows a young girl who embarks on an epic quest to find Tim-21.
Haskett, Lemire and Nguyen will serve as executive producers on the series which isn’t related to Sony Pictures’ planned “Descender” film adaptation. Those rights were sold in 2015 but that project has apparently made no further progress.
