Disney Plans Lionel Richie Jukebox Musical

Walt Disney Studios is reportedly developing “All Night Long,” an original live-action film musical centered around the songs of Lionel Richie and slated for a theatrical release.

The film is essentially a jukebox musical, not unlike “Mamma Mia” which is based on the ABBA songbook, as opposed to a musical biopic ala “Rocketman” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Plot specifics are unknown at this time.

Richie holds four Grammy awards and has reportedly sold over 100 million records worldwide, with notable hits including “Hello,” “Easy,” “Three Times a Lady,” “Say You, Say Me,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “Endless Love,” “Sail On” and “All Night Long (All Night)”.

Screenwriter Pete Chiarelli (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “The Proposal”) is at work on the script while Richie and his manager Bruce Eskowitz are producing the project alongside Dana Brunetti and Matt Del Piano.
