“Star Wars” star John Boyega got candid and passionate at a Black Lives Matter rally in London’s Hyde Park yesterday.
The British actor gave an emotional five-minute speech to the crowd, qualifying it with: “Look I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this but, f–k that.” His comments were in support of the widespread protesting of systemic violence against black people at the hands of the police.
Boyega says: “Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting. I ain’t waiting.”
In the wake of his actions, many of his co-workers and peers have rallied to his support including Matthew A. Cherry, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jordan Peele, Seth Rogen, Edgar Wright, Cathy Yan, Mark Hamill, Chris Miller and more.
Even the official “Star Wars” Twitter account has now publicly spoken in support of Boyega, including a link to his full speech. Check out the video in the link below.
