The Cuphead Show
“The Cuphead Show,” Netflix’s series adaptation of the acclaimed video game “Cuphead,” will offer a work-in-progress screening at this year’s Annecy Animation Festival. Expanding on the game’s storyline while employing the same 1930’s Fleischer-inspired animation style, the series continues the story of the titular character and his brother Mugman through a host of wild and dangerous adventures across the Inkwell Isles. HBO Max
Roku and WarnerMedia are racing to hammer out a deal to put the HBO Max app on Roku’s popular over-the-top TV platform in time for the service’s launch on May 27th. WarnerMedia and Roku are currently in negotiations on a pact with some finer details still being worked out. Not so good is the news that WarnerMedia’s HBO Max talks with Amazon seem to be at an impasse, with HBO Max unlikely to be in the Amazon Fire app store.
All other platforms however are expected to have the service on offer including Apple TV, YouTube TV, Hulu, Altice USA, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Microsoft Xbox, Samsung, Sony PlayStation, Verizon, and the National Cable Television Cooperative. [Source: Variety]
Muppets Now
The Disney+ streaming service has announced the new original series “Muppets Now” will premiere July 31st with a six-episode run. The project marks The Muppets Studio’s first original series for Disney+, and is said to be very family-friendly in tone. [Source: Twitter]
Outmatched
Fox has canceled the multi-camera comedy “Outmatched” after one season. The family comedy follows a blue-collar couple in Atlantic City trying to raise four kids – three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses. Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs led the cast of the show which averaged just a 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers in Live+7 ratings. [Source: TV Line]
