Netflix is finalizing a deal to adapt author Harlan Coben’s 2012 novel “Stay Close” for the screen.
“Stay Close” tells the story of three people hiding dark secrets and living lives they never wanted – a soccer mum with a wild past, a documentary photographer wasted in a dead-end paparazzi job, and a detective struggling to let go of a cold case.
The consequences of their past actions crash together in the present day. British producer Red Production Company, who spearheaded other Coben adaptations such as this year’s “The Stranger” (pictured above), “Safe” and “The Five” (which are all on Netflix), will produce.
Netflix and Red are still working out the details, including a potential writer and cast. Danny Brocklehurst penned the three previous adaptations for the streamer.
Coben signed a five-year overall deal with Netflix in 2018 allowing fourteen of his works to be adapted. The next one will be the Polish-language “The Woods” which premieres on June 12th, while David Ayer recently became attached to a film version of Coben’s “Six Years” for the streamer.
