Producer Ryan Murphy has announced that his popular “American Horror Story” anthology series is getting a spin-off and this time it’s a true anthology.
While the main series resets each season and tells a complete story from beginning to end, the spin-off will be titled “American Horror Stories” and will reduce the scope to self-contained episodes ala classic anthology shows like “The Twilight Zone” and “The Outer Limits” or more recent ones like “Black Mirror” and “Into the Dark”.
It’s not yet clear if “American Horror Stories” will air on FX, FX on Hulu or another outlet – Murphy has only just announced the show on his social media account. The main show will be shooting its tenth season shortly but is “weather-dependent” and was thought to have a beach setting.
