The New Mutants
Following this week’s talk of the “X-Men” spin-off “The New Mutants” going to premium VOD after a leaked Amazon listing, sources say the long-delayed feature is still planned for a theatrical release for now. Amazon’s glitch has been revealed to be due to the system automatically including it based on the previous April release date pre-pandemic shutdown. [Source: THR]
We Are Untouchable
STXfilms is in advanced talks with “The Girl Next Door” and “Half Brothers” filmmaker Luke Greenfield to direct the action-thriller “We Are Untouchable” which he will helm from a script he co-wrote with Captain Mauzner. Chernin Entertainment is producing.
The story focuses on a group of international college grads working in Mexico City at their respective diplomatic embassies. By day, they’re slaving away as mailroom assistants, but when they find out they have diplomatic immunity they go wild with it and live out their fantasies until they gradually fall into serious danger when they get entangled with a violent and savage group. Younger
A spinoff of the Hilary Duff-led comedy “Younger,” currently in its seventh season, is in early development with creator Darren Star at ViacomCBS. The show initially centered on Foster’s Liza Miller, a 40-year-old divorcee posing as a millennial in order to return to the book publishing industry.
It evolved to revolve around the friendship between Foster and her editor (Duff) as they navigate their careers and relationships. The series was created, written and executive produced by Star. [Source: Variety]
Comic Con
San Diego Comic-Con has announced “Comic-Con at Home,” an at-home version of the annual event that will be streamed this Summer on a date to be announced. The convention was originally slated to begin July 23rd with the digital version expected to be held on or around that date. The famed geek and comic confab often attracts well over 125,000 attendees from all over the world.
