Sutter On Possible “Sons of Anarchy” Plans

For many years there, FX’s biggest hit was Kurt Sutter’s darkly humored, often brutal and uncompromising biker drama “Sons of Anarchy” which ultimately ran for 92 episodes over seven seasons from 2008 to 2014.

The series helped boost the careers of young actors like Charlie Hunnam, Maggie Siff, Theo Rossi, Ryan Hurst and Taylor Sheridan whilst also giving great character actors such as Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman, Kim Coates, Tommy Flanagan, Titus Welliver, Ally Walker and Walton Goggins some memorable arcs.

It did well enough to score its own spin-off, “Mayans MC,” but Sutter recently teased on Twitter that there could be more ‘Sons’ spin-offs in the future. Recently he answered a fan question about what happened to Abel, the son of Hunnam’s Jax Teller. That answer revealed more of Sutter’s overall plan for the property:

“I had this revelation between ‘SoA’ and ‘Mayans,’ that the ‘SoA’ mythology would be four shows. ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ ‘Mayans M.C.,’ ‘First Nine,’ and ‘Sam Crow.’ ‘First Nine’ would be a limited series. Nine episodes. It would end before we began to tread on history we created in ‘Sons.’ ‘Sam Crow’ would be the fate of Wendi (Drea De Matteo), Nero (Jimmy Smits), [and the kids] Abel and Thomas.”

Could Sutter’s vision come to pass? Sutter added: “I can’t discuss my current situation with Fox, so right now I can’t comment on the reality of any of this happening.”

Sutter has had no problem speaking his mind about Fox and the creative battles he’s had with them, so his final comment there suggests the possibility of more ‘Sons’-inspired series coming sometime.
