Turturro Excited To Film Reeves’ “The Batman”

Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman” remains top secret for now, but we do know a bunch of villains will appear in the film from Paul Dano’s The Riddler to Colin Farrell’s The Penguin and more.

Another key figure is John Turturro’s Carmine Falcone, the mob boss who basically represents old school organised crime before the costumed crazies became the dominant players on the Gotham scene.

The comic storyline “The Long Halloween” dealt with that power struggle and is expected to have an influence on this new film, and if so then Falcone is one of the big players of the piece. During a recent interview with The Inquirer, Turturro was asked about joining the film and he says he’s excited to do so:

“I’m playing the bad guy. I loved Batman growing up, but I’m really a Zorro fan [Laughs]. So there’s no Batman without Zorro. When I was 5 years old, I thought I was Zorro with a sword. I had a stick that I hit my father with all the time. Then, when Batman came on TV, it was a big thrill. I read some of the comics. My sons always read DC comics. So I played with those for years. I like Matt Reeves, the director. It’s an interesting cast.”

Filming on “The Batman” was been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, though is expected to resume in the UK in the coming months.
