Uncharted
Filming on the Tom Holland-led “Uncharted” film is reportedly eyeing a March start date in Berlin and Spain. This tracks with recent reports that Ruben Fleischer is in final talks to direct the film which has now settled on a March 2021 release date.
Holland will play a young version of Nathan Drake, the charismatic yet obsessive treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover various historical mysteries. Mark Wahlberg stars as his mentor Sully. [Source: Discussing Film]
Fatman
Walton Goggins has been cast as a lead in Rough House Pictures’ dark action comedy “Fatman” which stars Mel Gibson as Santa Claus. The Nelm Brothers (“Small Town Crime”) are directing based on their original screenplay and filming is underway in Canada.
The story centers on a neglected and precocious twelve-year-old who hires an unorthodox hitman to kill Santa Claus after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking. Goggins will star as Skinnyman, the eccentric, sharp-shooting hitman who works at a toy store. [Source: Deadline]
Berlinale
The Berlin Film Festival announced its line-up of films in competition for the Gold and Silver Bears this year. Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons will head up this year’s international competition jury.
Running from February 20th – March 1st, the festival will see the world premiere of Pixar’s “Onward” along with Kelly Reichardt’s new film “First Cow,” Sally Potter’s “The Roads Not Taken,” Eliza Hittman’s abortion drama “Never Rarely Sometimes Always,” Abel Ferrara’s “Siberia,” Philippe Garrel’s “The Salt of Tears”. F9: The Fast Saga
Ahead of the trailer drop this Friday in Miami, Universal Pictures has released new character posters for “F9: The Fast Saga” which opens May 22nd.
The film will feature the return of Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pierce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Enrique Guzman as Simon Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw and Charlize Theron as Cipher. John Cena, Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, Vinnie Bennett, and Michael Rooker have also been cast.
