Sony Pictures is in negotiations with “Bumblebee” and “Kubo and the Two Strings” helmer Travis Knight to direct the film adaptation of the “Uncharted” game franchise.
“Spider-Man” star Tom Holland will lead the film as a young and just starting out treasure hunter Nathan Drake, years before the events of the games. Holland has been in the mix in discussions for Knight to come onboard after Dan Trachtenberg exited the other month.
Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins are penning the script while Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing. Filming is aiming to begin early next year.
Naughty Dog’s game series, published by PlayStation, has sold over 41 million copies to date.
