Matthias Schoenaerts, Jeffrey Wright, Chris Parnell, James Cromwell and Melissa Rauch have all joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s Panama Papers feature “The Laundromat” for Netflix.
The five join the already cast Antonio Banderas, Gary Oldman, Meryl Streep, David Schwimmer and Will Forte in the true story project. Riley Keough was previously said to be in talks but is reportedly no longer involved due to scheduling conflicts.
The scandal involved leaked documents which showed how Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca allowed the wealthy and the connected to funnel money illegally in and around the world. Scott Z. Burns penned the script based on Jake Bernstein’s novel “Secrecy World”.
Burns, Lawrence Grey, Soderbergh, Michael Sugar, Gregory Jacobs and Topic Studios are producing the project which began filming this week.
