Riz Ahmed’s “Venom” Role Revealed?

When Emmy winner Riz Ahmed joined the cast of the “Spider-Man” spin-off film “Venom” at Sony Pictures, the assumption was he was cast as Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage who is a confirmed villain in the film.

Subsequent reports then pegged him as The Chameleon but even now, with the film well into production, it’s not clear what role he’s playing. That may have changed today with a new set photo from Atlanta Filming revealing that he’s playing a character named ‘Dr. Drake’.

That sounds like Dr. Carlton Drake, the Leader of the Life Foundation, who in the “Lethal Protector” story arc is responsible for forcibly extracting five seeds from the Venom symbiote which later become known as Agony, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Scream.

It has already been revealed that storyline will be one of two serving as the basis for the film’s story. Ruben Fleischer helms the film which also stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson with an October 2018 release planned.
