Microsoft Denies GTA 6 Pre-Order Report

Rockstar Games

A spokesperson for Microsoft’s Xbox division has denied claims that pre-orders of the PlayStation 5 version of “Grand Theft Auto VI” are outselling the Xbox Series X/S version by a rate of 8-to-1.

IGN shared the original story, sharing the stats which are based on their own affiliate link data.

The Xbox spokesperson refuted that claim, telling Windows Central that affiliate data shouldn’t be presented as the full picture:

“This doesn’t represent pre-order data. We’ve had record orders. People should wait for real data and not clicks on affiliate links.”

In a rare move, PlayStation rebranded its console dashboards and mobile app this week to mark the beginning of pre-orders for the game which began on Thursday.

In addition, Rockstar Games themselves have declared the game “plays best on PS5”.

The decision to release the game without a disc version is unlikely to have a significant impact on the game’s sales, according to analysts.

“Grand Theft Auto VI” is set to be available everywhere on November 19th.
