Following her much talked about cannibal mermaid musical “The Lure,” filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczynska is turning her attention towards a slightly different endeavour for her next project – “Deranged”.
Smoczynska spoke with Birth Movies Death this week about a new project she’s developing which has ties to the legendary David Bowie and his 1995 album Outside:
“We want to make a science-fiction opera with music by David Bowie, titled ‘Deranged’. It’s about an investigator who is hired by the Art Crime Department to determine whether the murder of a 16-year-old girl is a crime or a work of art. We’ve started to work on it, and I hope it will happen.”
Bowie’s album was supposed to be the first of a series of records detailing a dystopian vision of 1999, but subsequent records never came. Smoczynska’s next film will come first and deals with a woman who loses her memory.
