Luke Evans To Lead Emmerich’s “Midway”

Luke Evans (“Beauty and the Beast,” “The Hobbit”) is set to star alongside Mandy Moore and Woody Harrelson in Roland Emmerich’s new big-budget WW2 action film “Midway” at Lionsgate.

The story will deal with the famed naval battle, considered a turning point in the war against Japan. Harrelson is playing Admiral Chester Nimitz, one of the leaders of the U.S. fleet which included aircraft carriers, destroyers and cruisers.

Evans will play Commander Wade McClusky, who would go on to win a Naval Cross for his role in Midway. Emmerich, Yu Dong and Harald Kloser will produce the film which will shoot in Montreal.

Evans, who has just come off TNT’s “The Alienist,” is currently filming the Netflix original feature “Murder Mystery” with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston.
