Nicole Kidman, Emma Thompson, Charlize Theron, Julianne Moore and Demi Moore are all reportedly in the running to play the antagonist in Disney’s live-action “101 Dalmatians” prequel film “Cruella”.
“I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie will helm the project from a script from Tony McNamara (“The Favourite”) with filming to begin this summer. Emma Stone is already set in the title role of Estella in the story which is set on the streets of 1970’s London.
That Hashtag Show (via The Dis Insider) says Kidman and those other actresses are up for the part of ‘The Baroness’ who is thought to be pivotal in Estella’s transformation into the dog-hating villain Cruella De Vil we know today. Kidman is reportedly the top choice for the role.
No release date for the film has been set. Glenn Close memorably played the Cruella De Vil character in two live-action films in the late 1990s.
