STX Entertainment has halted pre-production on its raw mystery drama “Godforsaken” following the abrupt exit of its star Sylvester Stallone just one week before shooting was to begin in Atlanta.
Stallone brought the project to STX, worked on the script with writer Daniel Casey and producer Lawrence Grey, and talked up the film earlier this year at CinemaCon.
Jim Mickle (“Cold in July”) had been set to direct the film which was supposed to kick off December 5th and had Stallone as an aging ex-con with more regrets than memories. Upon hearing about his son’s death, his solitude is quickly broken as he must now protect the only family he has left.
The project will go back into development with Mickle and Grey. No reason has been given for Stallone’s exit but he’s expected to do another project with STX soon.
