Atfer the film’s tagline “Live. Die. Repeat.” got strangely bigger placement on the poster art and trailers that the actual title, it’s little surprise that the “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel is following the trend.
The Doug Liman-directed and Tom Cruise-led 2014 sci-fi film is set to get a follow-up, and Liman has revealed to Collider that the film won’t go by “Edge of Tomorrow 2” but rather: “Live Die Repeat and Repeat”. Liman says:
“We have an amazing story! It’s incredible! Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”
While Cruise has always been a shoe-in to return, this is the first indication that Emily Blunt’s character would be back. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are penning the script based on a idea by Tom Cruise and Chris McQuarrie.
Previous comments have suggested the film serves as both sequel and prequel to the original, with Liman going as far as saying to IGN that it will “revolutionize how people make sequels”.
No date for it has yet been set.
