Happy with how “The Shape of Water” is turning out for them, Fox Searchlight is getting back into bed with filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro for two more projects – one involving “Hostiles” and “Out of the Furnace” director Scott Cooper.
That project, title “Antlers,” will have Cooper directing and Del Toro producing the story with Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca penning the script and David Goyer, Miles Dale, and Kevin Turen also producing.
The story follows a young teacher who discovers that her troubled student’s father and younger brother harbor a deadly supernatural secret. Taking the boy into her care, the teacher must fight for their survival against horrors beyond imagination.
Additionally, Del Toro is also attached to write, produce and direct a remake of the 1947 Fox film “Nightmare Alley”. He will co-write the script with Kim Morgan, but the film isn’t expected to be his immediate next project.
That film follows an ambitious young con-man who hooks up with a female psychiatrist who fleece people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the table on him. Del Toro is also producing next year’s “Pacific Rim Uprising” and is still developing the “Fantastic Voyage” remake.
